Urban Pet Portraits

Mar 29, 2019 | By: Tracy Allard

I was thrilled when speaking with this pet parent and she said that she was "girly girl" with a classic style so I suggested an urban setting, versus a park, to better suit her tastes and she loved the idea. This was a very special session; Chaco is her heart dog and as the sliver has started creeping in on his muzzle, Jesica knew she wanted to capture their relationship with professional pet photography. We talked about a number of locations but when I described the historic downtown Carrollton area in the Dallas - Fort Worth metroplex, she was sold. We got all these different looks in a short 3-block walk and we had the place all to ourselves on an early Sunday morning. Just because we have bricks and mortar in the images doesn't mean that would couldn't some green to bring a bit of nature into the images. It's week 13 of the 52 Week Pet Photographer Project and as you might have guessed by now, the theme is "urban".

Jessica and Chaco

Artwork

At Jessica's reveal we narrowed down her session to her faves and discussed a number of options how to print for both the wall and desk/tabletop. Ultimately she decided on a few gift prints for her desk at work and family and a 16" x 16" custom designed story print for her home that is made up of her favorite images. Story prints are one of my most popular wall art items and I love designing them. They are framed with an archival mounting on acid-free fine art paper and finished with a thick 8-ply mat, non-glare glass and a classic black frame.

Delivery Day!

At Home on the Wall

Jessica knew where she wanted to hang the story print and with a simple cell phone picture of the space, I showed her exactly how the print would look on the wall before she ordered her artwork (the image on the left), so when I delivered and installed the print for her, no surprises! It looks exactly how she wanted it to look in the space (the image on the right).

Proof Image

Before she placed the order for her artwork, I was able to show Jessica exactly how the finished, framed piece would look hanging in her her home.

As Installed

And this is how it looks hanging in her home. I include complimentary delivery and installation with all my portrait sessions.

I can't wait to see what the other pet photographers have in store for us with the theme "Urban", starting with Jo Lyons Photography, the down-to-earth dog loving photographer for cherished dogs of Sydney, Central Coast, Newcastle and the Great Lakes Region of NSW and then continue clicking in the link at the bottom of each post for an around the world tour of stunning urban pet photography!
