Boxer Brothers

As you know, I've got a soft spot in my heart for animal rescue. So when Legacy Boxer Rescue contacted me and asked to donate my time to photograph some pups for their annual fundraising calendar, how could I say no? They cleverly auction off the months of the calendar along with the cover and winners then select a photographer from a small pool of photographers who have donated their time. I was lucky enough to be chosen by Max and Zeke's mom and dad. I'd like you to meet Mr. January and Mr. February of the forthcoming 2020 Legacy Boxer Rescue calendar. These are likely not the images that will make it into the calendar, I'll be submitting a number of photographs from which their team will select the final ones for print. Because I knew this week's theme of the Pet Photography 52 Week Project was "leading lines", I made sure to incorporate that into at least a few of my images, which wasn't hard because I tend to do that unconsciously because the compositional concept is so ingrained in my mind at this point.

Zeke

I've used the stones and creek to create a leading line to Zeke's handsome, leading man pose here by a quintessential water wheel.

Max

It's so subtle that you may not even realize it, but I've used some long grasses in the foreground (as well as those spiky grasses below which are literally pointing to the subject) to create leading lines to Max's handsome mug; he is one good lookin' senior pup!

Now let me lead the way on to Jo Lyons Photography, the down-to-earth dog loving photographer for cherished dogs of Sydney, Central Coast, Newcastle and the Great Lakes Region of NS to see how she's used leading lines in her images and then continue clicking on the link at the bottom of each post for an around-the-world tour of creative pet photography. Tracy Allard of Penny Whistle Photography is a Certified Professional Photographer with the organization Professional Photographers of America; a designation held by fewer than 2,500 photographers nationwide and a hallmark of consistency, technical skill, artistry and professionalism.  Penny Whistle specializes in both on-location and studio photography providing pet, family, couples & engagement and high school senior portraits as well as corporate headshots and commercial photography services in her studio located in historic downtown Carrollton as well as on location in Coppell, Grapevine, Southlake, Flower Mound and surrounding communities in Dallas – Fort Worth, Texas.

Let's talk about your pet's portrait!
