Dallas Pet Portrait Session in the Texas Bluebonnets

Whether you're a kid, couple or pet, it's a right of passage to be photographed in our bluebonnets, the state flower of Texas. Kinsley's dog mom didn't want to miss the opportunity this year as her muzzle is getting more and more gray and she's slowing down a bit. Her rescue sister, Mocha, joined in on the fun and we created some fantastic pictures of cute dogs in the blue blooms, including some frames with their mom, Karen.

Bluebonnets don't last long and their arrival is different every year depending on the previous year's blooms and weather conditions in the spring. I take bluebonnet session reservations year round and watch my favorite local fields to pick the best time to start lining up sessions. I contact clients in the order that they reserved their session, so the earlier you reserve, the better chance of securing your preferred day and time.

I schedule my sessions early in the bloom before the natural grasses and weeds grow taller than the flowers themselves and before the fields are trampled by an onslaught of well-meaning, but careless folks who flatten large areas of flowers.

This session had perfect timing; the blooms looked great and we had large expanses of them so I thought it the perfect candidate to share for this week's theme in the Pet Photography 52 week project, "blooms". Cute dog pictures, a loving dog mom and the gorgeous Texas bluebonnet - what could be better?
