Deli and Demo are Best Friends

Friday, August 21, 2020 | By: Tracy Allard

I decided that we needed a change of scenery last weekend so Rooney and I headed north to near the Oklahoma border to visit a friend - his first mom Emily who bred his litter - for some play time with her pack.

It had been a few months since Rooney had been back to the farm so he was a little timid at first, but eventually joined in the fun. I of course brought my camera to capture some of the shenanigans and when her terrier Deli started playing tug with her brother Demo, I knew I had my images for this week's theme in the Pet Photography 52 Week Project, "best friends".

Emily's farm is Border Collie central but Deli holds her own with the BCs and her husband Jeff always has a rescue dog to round out the mix, Demo is his buddy. Deli and Demo are the youngest of their pack and joined the family only a few weeks apart so it makes sense that they're besties.

Time to Cool Off

After some Frisbee play we headed to the creek to cool everyone off. A fun time was had by all and Rooney slept HARD that night! I was hoping that he would take to the water after watching Emily's dogs dive in over and over again. He did get wet and actually swam a couple of times (the look of mild panic on his face when his feet were no longer touching the bottom was priceless), but most of the time he just cruised the shoreline in belly-deep water excitedly barking at everyone (that's why you don't see him in this picture, he's down stream LOL). I guess it's just going to take a few more visits to make him a water dog!

Now on to Nicole Hrustyk of Pawtraits by Nicole in Las Vegas, Nevada to see what she has to share on the theme of "best friends" and then continue clicking on the link at the bottom of each post for an around the world tour of fun and fabulous pet photography.
