I recently had the pleasure of meeting a number of the Bulldogs available for adoption from Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue at a fundraising and awareness event held at Boomer Jack's Grill and Bar in Fairview, Texas (just south of McKinney and a few minutes north of Plano) and I of course brought my camera to help give these chunky monkeys a helping paw to get adopted.
I learned from their website that The Rescue Club is located in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and is operated as a part of the Lone Star Bulldog Club (LSBCR) which was formed in 1948. In 1993, Dixie Little began doing rescue well before rescue was an accepted practice. Dixie is still a member of Lone Star Bulldog Club (LSBC) and a stanch supporter of bulldog rescue. LSBC is a licensed, American Kennel Club sanctioned club that conducts Bulldog shows in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. LSBC is also the local chapter of the parent club, Bulldog Club of America.
The Rescue Club's goal is to make the best match taking into consideration the Bulldog’s background and the adopting family’s needs. Every rescue Bulldog is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. They take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match and they take their responsibility of finding forever homes for rescue Bulldogs very seriously.
As a non-profit, LSBCR is completely driven by compassionate, dedicated and fun-loving volunteers. Volunteers can support the group in a multitude of ways, from big jobs to little projects. Learn how you can give them a helping hand...
One of the things I noticed about this organization and it's volunteers is that it really does feel like a club. Everyone truly loves this breed and wants to do whatever possible to help the rescue dogs. Most fosters had at least one or two of their own Bulldogs at home.

If you follow this blog, you know that I'm part of a global circle of fantastic pet photographers who I learn from, and am inspired by, every day. Each week we write and photograph on a theme, this week it was to showcase a specific breed of dog.
The way the circle works is you click on the link at the bottom of each post to be taken directly to the next photographers post. Keep repeating until you land back here and then you've completed the circle! Next up is Pawtraits by Nicole capturing portraits of pets in and around Las Vegas, Nevada; I can't wait to see what breed everyone chose!
