The month was August, almost a year ago now, that I couldn't believe my eyes. The most perfect sunset unfolded before us, us being the group of women photographers from around the country gathered on the Powderhorn Ranch in Douglas, Wyoming for a photography retreat. We actually never got rained on, but it did rain around us. The sky looked as though it was on fire and bits of blue peeked out from behind the clouds while the sun shone a bright yellow at the horizon line. A horse, a rider, a dog and the scene was complete. I love silhouettes when they tell a story such as this. There's a reason they call the west "big sky country" and I can't wait to return. 

I tried to photograph a local Dallas sunrise or sunset for this week's theme in the 52 Week Pet Photography Project but alas the weather was not working in my favor. Every day was blah, hazy, white skies or rain. I finally had to call it a wash on the last day that the our posts were due and pull one for the archives. But if you're going to pull from the archive, it might as well be jaw dropping, right?
