Where is the year going? How can it be week 31 of the Pet Photography 52 Week Project? This week's theme is "bokeh". You may not know what this is, but I guarantee that you like it, pretty much everyone does! Wikipedia tells us that "in photography, bokeh is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light" (see sample image below). Uh huh. My clients just ask "I want the background all nice and blurry, can you do that?" Yes. Yes, I can.
I knew right away the session that would be a great representation of bokeh, Haley and her Angel (more formerly known as "Rockin C Angel"), a bay roan Quarter Horse who occupies a large part of Haley's heart. I photographed them in the Terri Cage PhotographyNorth Texas Equine Workshop where I met some wonderfully talented photographers from around the country and had the opportunity to photograph some absolutely gorgeous models and their horses.
Because of all the spring rains we had here in the Dallas - Fort Worth metroplex, many of our planned shooting locations were under water so Terri had to improvise and we were lucky enough to be offered the beautiful property of Schmidt Reining Horses in Pilot Point, Texas which provided lots of locations to create some great bokeh.
Now on to Jo Lyons Photography - down-to-earth dog loving photographer for cherished dogs of Sydney up to the Great Lakes Region of NSW - to see what she has to share on the subject of "bokeh" and then continue clicking on the link at the bottom of each post for an around-the-world tour of beautiful pet photography.
