It happens every now and then. The session is over, the gear is all packed up and we're all walking back to the car when you see the most beautiful light and you HAVE to stop and take advantage of it. No need to unpack the strobe, when the light is this sweet it needs no help.

That's what happened in Petey's recent session. We captured a ton of terrific images of him in and around the Grapevine Botanical Gardens (in between children asking if they could pet him, what a sweet and lovable lug) that we called it a wrap after about an hour and headed to the parking lot when I saw this patch of grass with the most beautiful, golden light touching it.  "Let's put Petey in there, quick before the sun sets!" It was literally in the middle of the parking lot, but you'd never know it. Ever the professional, Petey flashed his signature grin and we got just one more image for his mom to love. 

Because I am now retouching Petey's session, this image was the perfect choice for this week's theme of "natural light" in the Pet Photography 52 Week Project.
